Zack Thompson
1935—1996
1935—1996
Born in Louisiana, Zack Thompson moved to SanFrancisco’s Western Addition with his family during World War II. His performing talent was recognized early and he attended the SF Ballet School class of 1954, with dancers Michael Smuin and Paula Tracy; they remained lifelong friends. Thompson jazz danced and taught all over the world, with stints in Paris, Toronto, and New York. Dancers We Lost curator McElhinney is producing a short biographical film about Thompson’s life as a dancer.
