1968—1991
23 years old when he died, Joffrey Ballet dancer and choreographer “Eddie” Stierle was known for speed, virtuosity, and persuasive characterization. New York Times dance critic Anna Kisselgoff described him as “a stunning talent, delving unabashedly into images of emotional turbulence” and pronounced his Empyrean Dances, which premiered just days before his passing, as “a rarity, a visionary ballet.” Courtesy of The Joffrey Ballet; Photo by Herbert Migdoll; Courtesy of Rosemarie Stierle Worton
